The sea-facing Jack Poole Plaza next to the Vancouver Convention Centre is the home of Vancouver’s official Christmas tree, a 50 feet-tall tree (and its three mini companions) that will shine in the city for the 9th year in a row.
I had to miss the tree-lighting ceremony yet again, due to a work Christmas party, but I went to check out the tree (without the crowds) a few days later, on a clear winter night.
Aside from the tree, the Olympic Cauldron (remnant from our winter Olympics in 2010), is being lit with festive red and green lights for the season, adding a little more magic to the plaza during the Christmas season.
